Aloha Friday - Easter Traditions?

It's Friday, which means that over at An Island Life it is time for Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays we take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, she asks a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. Then everyone else asks a simple question of their own blog for others to answer.
I'm not one to fill my kid's baskets with candy. They eat too many sweets as it is. I get them little gifts instead. We have a fun way for the girls to find their baskets that I'm going to post about for Works For Me Wednesday. We do an easter egg tree that the girls love to decorate and of course, we dye eggs.
Do you have any Easter traditions?
Enjoy your weekend! Schools have today off so we have already started ours ~ WooHoo!

  1. We do the egg dying thing also and have baskets. I try to stay away from the candy if possible.

  2. I don't really have any traditions, just hiding baskets. But this year we're going to do an Easter Egg hunt.

  5. Nope, none yet. We have always gone to my parent's house, but I don't think we will this year. It is just too far of a drive for just the weekend with a 1 1/2 year old. I figure they don't work, they can come visit us on Easter if they want. We will probably do church and of course the Easter Bunny will come!

  6. I guess the Easter Egg hunt would be it. The kids look forward to it and I always have a hard time remembering where that darn Easter Bunny hid the last couple of eggs! LOL!

  8. We do an Easter egg hunt in the afternoon and the bunny "hides" their baskets for the girls to find in the morning. Nothing fancy, but it's fun!

  12. When my oldest was little we would of course dye eggs and then I, I mean the Easter bunny would hide them.
We always lost one and would find it months later. Note to self: when the little ones get old enough to do this, make a map.

  14. We dye eggs, have a easter egg hunt and get little treats.
I try to concentrate on what Christ did for us and the meaning of it more than gifts, but it seems mainstream media gets the kids anyway~!

  17. We always have a big dinner and get together with the relatives. I usually do an Easter hunt but Kylie is to old for that now (so she tells me) and Aiden is to young.

  18. Easter is like Christmas, it is a time that I wish we could just totally 'bag' the commercialism side. However, I do not want to be the 'bad guy' and not let my children enjoy some of our "cultural or community" traditions.

For Easter we do hide baskets of hard boiled eggs and candy. (of course the chocolate candy is for me- cuz I tell the kids it is just 'ornamental' and not for eating-- in my dreams! They love chocolate just like their mom!! I like black jelly beans and they don't, so I do get these candies back. LOL!!)

We do go to Church on Sunday. But we do that every week. So I would say that other than the baskets, we do try to talk about Christ's Resurrection and what that means to each of us. That is the most important part of Easter is remembering 'The Why'.

    Thanks for asking.
