With my first daughter I was on top of things. She was a great sleeper so once she was in bed for the night I would often work on her scrapbook. I was always up-to-date. Enter second child....my goal was to have their individual books complete at each birthday. It worked but it was a struggle. I get pregnant with a third and am totally overwhelmed with what I need to scrap...to the point that I hated taking pictures because I knew they would have to be put somewhere.
The Solution:
I will make three by-hand scrapbooks for each girl.
Zero to one year
one year to two
two years to four
This makes the task not so daunting and there is an end in site. After age four it's a digital photo book for each year. Those things are a breeze to put together. And in another three years I will be completely done with the whole scrapbook phase. I'll be OK with that! This works for me.

That is a great idea and so many memories. I still have to get one together for my little one.
ReplyDeleteI love the tags that you used to label the books!
ReplyDeletek, so I'd actually have to scrapbook to do this, right? I admit, I never have!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I'm trying to prepare a 1st year scrapbook ahead of time for my baby on the way and I too am feeling overwhelmed with how long I will keep this up and making it "even" for both kids. I am liking the idea of the digital scrapbook at a certain point.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on getting behind! I finished my now 3-year old's first year book, but nothing beyond that. I'm way behind on finishing my 2-year old's first year book. To say the least...I have some catching up to do! I've seen those digital books and I really do like them. I think I'm going to scrap through to 3 years old and beyond that do those books, but continue to scrap for our family album. That's my plan! ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! makes sense if you have multiple children.
ReplyDeleteI have just one kiddo. I made him a baby book, and a first year book that he can cake when he is an adult. After that it is a family album. Those will be left to him after I am gone, but for the next 50 years they are mine!
