"In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response."
So head over to her site, An Island Life and answer her question but while you are here you might as well answer mine:
I am completely fashion inept. I have no clue if I can wear this necklace with that neckline or layer this with that. Where do you go to find what is "in-style?" I mean...in-style for a t-shirt, jean (or shorts), and flip flop loving mom that has no desire to have the latest....just want to find out how I can fit a scarf into my wardrobe or what I can do with my existing stuff to look good. Simple stuff. Any ideas?
Enjoy your weekend!
yeah...even my mom told me I dressed too frumpy during my last pregnancy....so I'm dressing more stylish this time. But really, I am the wrong person for fashion tips! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a t-shirt kind of girl too, but I usually ask my friend Marja who is a fashion queen and there are a few ladies at work who I think have good fashion taste too. If my friend Melanie lived here I'd ask her too, she's a buyer for Saks!
ReplyDeleteI read a lot of those style magazines but, they are irrelevant to the Midwestern style.
ReplyDeleteI'm inept, too. The only time I look good is when I'm pregnant (cause that whole wardrobe was bought at one time with an eye towards it working together, and well, pregnancy comes with really good hair). Not a good reason to keep having babies! LOL
ReplyDeleteYoung Life garage sales!
ReplyDeletesuch a good question. I will keep checking in for answers, as I need the advice, too!
ReplyDeleteI have one very stylish friend and grab her to shop occasionally...
lol maybe you should go back to teaching... you always seemed to be in style then.... lol really? you really think you have no idea?
ReplyDeletekim
I look in magazines I get. I mainly put together what I love my own style. I don't care what people think. This is me!
ReplyDeleteI don't shop much for myself now that I have a child. If I do it is Old navy and Target. Gone are the days of the fun cute clothes for myself!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea!! I guess just go to the mall and see what outfit you think looks trendy! If you like it I'm sure others will too!
ReplyDeleteI really dress myself in comfort and what I think looks good on me. I am not concerned over what people might think of me. I am who I am and happy to be me. I am not so worried about being in Style. I never have been worried that I might not be in fashion.
ReplyDeleteBut my daughter......... she watches what her friends are wearing and they all feed off each other. She is so opposite from me.
I go to my sister...she is the expert!
ReplyDeleteI am kind of clueless about that stuff too - I look at a lot of magazines and mostly get ideas from that.
ReplyDeleteFashion advise - I've got nothing!
ReplyDeleteI wear a Harley Davidson T-shirt or hoodie with jeans every day! I'm a dork like that!
Definately Marie Claire...Don't always have the $ to keep though! lol
ReplyDeleteMy younger sister's closet!!
ReplyDeleteI swear! She left for one year to live in Australia and I was in the dumps, clothing wise.
She is my guru!
I'm probably pretty out of touch too, unfortunately. My sister tends to be pretty trendy, but she also dresses far "younger" than I think I should try to get by with as a mother of 3 in my 30's.
ReplyDeleteSince I started staying at home I really don't worry about things like this. I wear things that look right on me and are comfortable. Typically jeans and a solid shirt. Right now I am into my Teva's.
ReplyDeleteI love my jeans, cute shirts, jersey shorts, t-shirts. I'm not to much on style I love to be comfortable. I dress up when I go to church are some where special.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea. Some day I will care again. lol
ReplyDeleteI have no clue! I pretty much just wear what's comfortable. But I try to stick to shirts that actually have some sort of design, rather than just t-shirts. I've noticed that since I started this I feel much more put together and confident about the way I look. :) And I'm just as comfortable as I was before.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty fashion stupid. And so are all of my friends. I do all my clothes shopping at Target! LOL
ReplyDeleteI am totally clueless. If I need fashion advice, I ask my daughter. She knows everything about fashion and what's in and what's not.
ReplyDeleteI just look in magazines and watch tv lol Other than that.. I don't go out much so lounge pants suit me fine lol
ReplyDeleteMy sister in law is always up to date on the latest styles and she is a flip flop kind of girl. I basically get tips from her.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteI am new to the blog world, but have seen the miracle of the blogging community and prayer in the last two days. Hope you will stop by my blog and pray for little Maggie.
I left you something on my blog for you.
ReplyDeleteLike most of the commenters, my closet is full of jeans and long sleeved t-shirts in a variety of colors. :) Then occasionally I need something fancy and I panic. This blog is fun - "How to Not Dress Like a Mom" http://nomoremomjeans.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteOoooooohhhhhhh.....this is right up my alley! I do fashion for a living and love, love, love it!
ReplyDeleteI work with ladies for SAHM closets with a touch of go out outfits to corporate Moms. It's so much fun! My current project is working with Mammas to use the jeans, tees & capris in their closets and teaching them to accessorize.
Here's one tip....you can use a scarf & 2 bangles and turn it into a cute little purse or just use the scarf to tie/make into a little sassy hip pouch to use while you take your kids to the park. These will give your SAHM comfie outfit a pop of color.....and get you on your way to that pulled together look.
Colors compliments perfectly.
