FNCCC Week 9 - Cat Cora

This week's featured chef is Cat Cora, who has been on numerous FN shows. If you looked at her recipes at FN you realize her Greek heritage runs deep in her cooking. I wish I had time to make some of those Greek dishes but ran short on time. I have her Avgolemono: Chicken Soup with Egg-Lemon Sauce on my must-try list. Hopefully one of you chose that one so I know if it should stay there :)

I just happened to buy broccoli slaw last week so needed a recipe to use it. I don't like mayonnaise based slaw so this was great for me. Very tasty. Very easy. I would make it again.

Cat's Broccoli Slaw
Recipe courtesy Cat Cora

1/3 cup Dijon mustard
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
3 tablespoons hot sauce (I only had wing sauce so used that)
1 teaspoon celery seeds
Kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
2 packages broccoli slaw
In a large bowl, whisk together the mustard and the sugar. Slowly add in the remaining ingredients for the dressing, continuing to whisk. Add in the broccoli slaw and mix thoroughly.
So what did you cook? Enter your link below!

  1. I almost made this, but it is very similar to a recipe we make so I figured I better choose something else. Looks yummy!

  2. I think I'd like that a lot better than regular cole slaw :) Thanks.

  3. I'll have to keep this in mind for sometime I do broccoli slaw

  4. I used to hate slaw but it has really grown on me. I might have to try this :) Thanks again for hosting. I've really been enjoying this.

  5. Oooh, I think I'd like this recipe better than the Aaron McCargo recipe I did in the first challenge.

I bookmarked that soup recipe too but eggplants went on sale and I figured that meant I better make moussaka!

  6. Your dad made Eliopitta: Olive Bread. It was very good fresh. We will see how it is tomorrow. I think a great substitute for the thyme wold be rosemary. Hope to try it that way soon.

We made about 70 tamales on Sunday. Used masa harina in the dough and wrapped the chick and beef tamales in corn husks. Even though the dough was a bit too thick they are quite good. It was a fun experience and hope to make them again.

  7. I'm bummed I missed this week....may have to make it up!

  8. Hi everyone,

Cat Cora's recipes seemed intimidating to me so I went with her simplest one: pizza dough. :) Check out what I cooked up on my blog, Sabbath Supper! Thanks!
