I read Coach Dungy's book Quiet Strength when it was first released and found great inspiration from his story. The One Year Uncommon Life Daily Challenge is no different in terms of inspiration but this time in a daily devotional format. The book has seven themes (Core, Family, Friends, Potential, Mission, Influence, and Faith), with each repeating every seven days. Each daily devotion gives a specific Bible verse to ponder, stories and commentary on that verse, and an "Uncommon Key" daily challenge.
Coach Dungy has great stories pulled from his uncommon life as a Christian, husband, father, and player and Super-Bowl winning coach in the NFL. I admire him as a man after God's own heart. He lives an uncommon life because there is no other way to live when God plays the key role in all of your endeavors. One of my favorite entries is about Luke 12:48; "When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required." In this lesson on influence, Coach Dungy reminds us that, unlike many people all over the world, we, most likely, have many conveniences not afforded to others. Do we still complain about the things we don't have or do we see the responsibility set before us? Are we blessed? Thank God. Then use what you have been given to bless others.
