Aloha Friday! Spring Cleaning

It's Friday, which means that over at An Island Life it is time for Aloha Friday. In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that they take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So on Fridays we take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, she asks a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response. Then everyone else asks a simple question of their own blog for others to answer.

I can't stand cleaning! I like everything picked up (I can't live with too much clutter) but really let my cleaning go. Dusting is on my most hated list. I started spring cleaning yesterday - no warning or planning, it just hit me that it should be done. I'm sure I'll be at it for a week or so. The baby keeps me from cleaning all out, all day, like I would like. So I need your help.....

Got any quick and easy cleaning tips?

Enjoy your weekend~

  1. I don't like clutter and so everything has its own place. I make sure everyone in the house knows this! So if they use it, put it back..please!

  2. I have a good natural way to clean inside the microwave. 1/2 cup of lemon juice and 1/2 cup of water...heat for 1 minute. Let that sit for another minute. WHen you open the microwave, the steam will loosen any stuck on mess, and you can wipe it off. THe best part, there is no chemicals and you get a good clean microwave. What's even better? You can use the lemon juice/water to wipe down the stove, fridge, and sink and get them sparkling clean again!

  3. I feel like I clean all the time and yet the house is never clean. I did buy myself several small laundry baskets. I go from room to room filling them with things that don't belong in that room. I have one basket for each room that items are supposed to go into. Once everything is collected I take each basket to it's room and put everything away. It keeps me from running back and forth from room to room. My only problem is sometimes I fill the baskets and then don't put the stuff away.

  4. Don't let your 3-year old help. If you do, it won't be quick or easy. :-)

  9. Ugh, right there with you. I never seem to have the time or motivation to clean. When I do it just has to be room to room and little by little. I know that clutter easily creeps up, so trying to keep that at a minimum is key. That is something I have not been able to win the battle with.

  10. I agree...Hire Someone!

Ok--in all seriousness, what works for me is that I always clean the kitchen right after meals and make sure it is all wiped down before bed and leaving the house. It's my hubs fault....he actually insists on cleaning before we go anywhere just in case someone comes home with us! Never have to worry about it then. So...quick wipedown at strategic times of the day keeps it shiny and clean! Good luck!

  11. i can't bring myself to clean for long durations of time. set a timer for 5 minutes - do as much as you can in 1 area in that amount of time.

  12. Do a little bit @ a time! Nothing too strenuous & yet it all manages to get done. Also love those antibiotic wipes. Great things!

  13. I really like having Clorox anywhere, but I like the convenience of the wipes. Just wipe it all up, but my house is a disaster so I'm not any help

  15. I love my swiffer mop. It is a god-send for quick clean ups. And, the solutions smell pretty good.

  16. Well, I am glad that I am not the only one who hates cleaning, and my baby and the one I baby sit, don't let me clean as much as I would like either...

but, I would say decluttering first and foremost, and getting rid of things that you don't need or use...from all the different rooms in your house!

    (I know I wasn't very much help!)

  17. Baseboards are one of my most hated cleaning tasks. But with some cheese cloth stuck on the bottom of a stiff broom, I just sweep the dust away.

  18. Windex - clean your mirror/windows and then use the paper towel on your faucet and handles for a great shine. It makes it seem so much cleaner and is a snap. Also, I clean the bathroom while my 3 year old plays in the bath, I fold clothes while she plays on the bed, I clean the kitchen while she plays with marshmallows/toothpicks at the counter, I guess you can see where I am going with my ramble... I take just a few minutes in whatever room we end up in to do what I can before she shifts gears and we are off to a new adventure. :)
